Warcraft movie draenei scene12/3/2023 ![]() Overall, I think this movie is one of the best, if not THE best video game movie. I ended up logging on to my WoW account to show Manchild places the movie had, and explaining more of the characters, etc. This movie was made for the fans, and I don’t particularly see it grabbing new people. Once Manchild grasped who characters were and what was happening, it also became enjoyable for him. It’s left wide open for a sequel (or a spin-off, Warcraft lore is HUGE). Once all the characters were laid out on the table, it was a smooth, sleek, great fantasy action movie. The second half of the movie finally became a normal speed. Even I had to really think who was who, and I caught on only because I was familiar with the lore. There’s a long shot of a lake at night…and then you hear the sound EVERY World of Warcraft player dreads…Įven as a Warcraft fan, I felt the first half of the movie was very rushed, and not enough time between introducing a character, looking at their face, and have it register who they are. There’s a brief scene where Lothar and his group is on horseback and they are galloping through Elwynn Forest, heading to Goldshire. Many of the other popular races in WoW (particularly gnomes, night elves, trolls, and tauren) at this point in the lore were dealing with their own crazy shit. Please note that these are HIGH elves (blood elves before fel corruption) these are NOT night elves, which I think people may freak out over. There’s a brief scene involving the draenei, but it’s the only time they show up in the film. Some of the playable races in WoW do appear in the movie, but not all of them. ![]() But even though Warcraft takes a lot of inspiration from Tolkien, I respect that they want to set their dwarves apart from Tolkien dwarves. I hate to say I was hoping for more practical effects for the dwarves like in Lord of the Rings. The dwarves looked cool, but are motion capture CGI like the orcs and draenei. But, the scene in Ironforge is three minutes long, so it wasn’t enough for me to nerd rage. My slight nitpick with Ironforge in particular (though I may have just missed it) was the lack of the Great Forge in the center of the city. The exterior shots of Ironforge and Stormwind looked amazing. But, I also knew who the characters were as they came up on the screen. I loved that the main orcs in the movie look EXACTLY like they do in the Warlords of Draenor cinematic. I almost wanted to yell, “BARRENS CHAT.” I didn’t. There’s cute couple banter between them Manchild laughed at it. One of my favorite scenes was with Durotan and Draka, an orc couple, and it shows she’s pregnant. Basically, we have two opposite sides of the Warcraft spectrum here, so if you need a review that covers both point of views, this is it.Īlso, bear in mind that I primarily play Horde, so I’m a bit biased for the faction I was rooting for. He played about five minutes of Warcraft III with his best friend a long time ago, but anything he knows about Warcraft, he knows from me. I also had my boyfriend, Manchild, with me to watch this movie. I’ve even read some of the official lore books. ![]() Guys…you guys…I have been waiting since 2007 for this movie.īe forewarned, this review is from a long time Warcraft/World of Warcraft player. ![]()
